“In that day I will restore David’s fallen shelter— I will repair its broken walls, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as it used to be, so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear my name,” declares the Lord, who will do these things. (Amos 9:11–12)
This prophetic word, spoken through Amos, continues to unfold even today. Long after David’s death, God reflected on His covenant relationship with David and declared His intention to rebuild the fallen Tabernacle of David. This rebuilding process began with the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Throne of David and the Birth of Christ
When the angel appeared to Mary, he announced:
“Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1:31–33)
AMOS PROPHECY FULFILLED
The birth of Jesus marked the beginning of the fulfilment of Amos’ prophecy. Today, Christ sits upon the throne of David, carrying forward the divine plan to rebuild the Davidic Tabernacle.
Building Through the Body of Christ
God continues this rebuilding through Christ’s gifts to the Church:
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:11–12)
The fully built body of Christ will reflect the Tabernacle of David. This is the Father’s will—the reason Christ came, died, and rose again: to sit upon David’s throne and recruit men into priestly service before God.
Why David?
To understand this blueprint, we must revisit God’s relationship with David.
“After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’” (Acts 13:22)
While Saul disobeyed in the palace, David faithfully responded to every instruction given to him. God’s delight in David was rooted in obedience. David became the template for the new man in Christ—a man after God’s own heart.
Our Daily Walk
In our walk with Christ, God watches how we respond to the daily instructions of His Spirit. Our obedience determines whether He will “find us,” anoint us, and bring us into the Davidic anointing and sonship.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)
Just as David was found faithful, we too are under the gaze and scrutiny of God’s eyes. He searches for hearts fully devoted to Him, hearts willing to obey. Obedience is the foundation of rebuilding the Tabernacle—without it, no one can share in God’s plan for the end of the age.
Conclusion
The prophecy of Amos is not a distant promise but a living reality. Through Christ, the Tabernacle of David is being rebuilt. The aim and intent are in the book of Acts 15:15,
And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, 16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: 17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
God is shaping the Church through Christ into a Davidic company., mobile temples where God lives by His Spirit. And just as God found David faithful, He seeks men and women today who will walk in obedience and carry the Davidic anointing.
The Tabernacle of David is being rebuilt in our generation, and each of us has a role to play through obedience. May we be found faithful, just as David was, and allow Christ to shape us into living stones for God's dwelling.
If this word has blessed you, share it with others and continue the journey with us as we uncover more of God’s prophetic blueprint."
