ANOINTING FOR SONSHIP
“And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’” — Matthew 3:17
The above statement is an affirmation and confirmation of divine authority.
In a world filled with doubts, striving, and contention, it was important that God publicly speak to affirm His authority upon the person of Jesus Christ.
When God speaks in this manner, it changes the dynamics of the assignment.
Before this moment, Jesus was contending with the influence and ministry of John the Baptist, who, according to prophecy, was the forerunner of Christ. Yet from the moment the voice of God spoke concerning Jesus, it became evident that the ministry of John had to become subordinate to the ministry and assignment of our LORD Jesus Christ.
Jesus was also confronted with misunderstanding and levity, even from His own siblings. Therefore, it became necessary for Heaven to announce: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him.”
This reveals a divine principle: When God is pleased with a man, He anoints that person for specific assignments. Concerning David, the Scripture says:
Acts 13:22 “After removing Saul, He made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’”
The anointing is a gesture of divine approval.
It is the highest form of authority when God approves of a man.
Practically speaking, every one of us must go through the process of divine approval. Without God’s approval, there can be no true anointing.
God watches every individual carefully. He searches the heart to see the depth of our obedience and submission to His will.
When God finds a man walking in obedience and surrender, He anoints that individual.
Anointing follows obedience.
It is the full weight of God’s partnership upon a life, empowering a person to perform difficult and impossible assignments.
Anointing means Presence — God being with a man.
This is why difficult tasks become possible. The challenges we face in life often require more than human strength; they require the anointing.
The anointing is God’s approval. From Heaven’s perspective, it is a sign of trust and worthiness to carry divine presence.
When divine presence rests upon a person, difficult tasks become simple because of the power of the anointing. Jesus received the anointing to become: The Saviour of the world
The Son of God, the expression of Heaven on earth. Even today, God is still searching for those who desire to become sons and daughters of God.
What determines sonship is obedience.
What Is Obedience?
Obedience is a predetermined decision to obey God at all times — whether convenient or inconvenient.
When God finds a man in this premeditated position of surrender, He anoints that individual for sonship and divine assignment.
This was the position that brought David into the kingship and gave him the most enviable title: "A man after God's own heart"
Romans 8:19 “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”
Creation itself is waiting for obedient sons and daughters who carry divine approval.
God is looking for sons who will solve problems on the earth. It takes God’s approval to function within the true anointing.
The eyes of the LORD still go to and fro throughout the earth, seeking to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are perfect toward Him.
Our obedience opens the door for God’s approval and anointing.
And when God approves of us, we become solution carriers to a dying world.
